Microsoft TechEd 2009 Australia - Free HP Netbook 2140
When attending Microsoft PDC last year in Los Angeles, CA there were many attendees who thought it was cool to get a free Western Digital USB hard drive. It seems though that that was nothing compared to what attendees at the Australian TechEd 2009 conference will walk away with.
If you're in Australia, or you feel like you needed a good excuse to go walk about down under, then I'd recommend you register for the Australian TechEd 2009 conference. Attendees of the conference will then receive a free HP Netbook 2140, powered by an Intel Atom N270 processor, running Windows 7.

5 Ways To Find Cheap Used Laptops
There are many reason why one would want to buy cheap used laptops, the main, and most obvious reason being that a new laptop is simply too expensive. If your goal is to find a cheap used laptop, then take some time to do the research, and you will be sure to get a great deal. I will detail 5 ways you can use to locate the right used laptop that suits your needs, and price range.
One of the first steps in your research should be to get on the Internet and begin your search. Your first stop should be eBay. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you already know that eBay is an auction site where you bid for items. It’s also a great place to find hard to find items such as, a piece of toast with a religious icon burned into it, or a clip Elvis’s sideburns. But, it’s also a great place to find inexpensive used equipment, i.e. laptops.
Once on eBay, you can do a quick search by typing “used laptop” into the search function. You’re sure to find hundreds of selections, and name brands too. Spend some time there conducting your research. You don’t have to bid right away so take your time. Compare prices, and look for sellers with good ratings. The higher the rating, the more reputable the seller. Just like file format problems have a link with the user of the computer.
Another place to find used laptops is Amazon.com. Amazon is not only a great bargain store that sells new items—you can also find used items for sale at a great price, often a lot cheaper than their respective new items. If you’ve used Amazon before, then you’ve probably seen the links “new & used.” By clicking on this link when you do a search, you’ll be able to see both options. But of course we’re interested in used. You’ll be given the prices for the used items, as well as its condition, and the rating of the seller.
Still another stop you should make before concluding your research is Craig’s List. This website is much like a newspaper classified section in its apparent simplicity. But don’t let that simplicity fool you. Do a search for “used laptop” and you will find a huge selection. You can even choose by location to find something local, or you can opt to expand your search to other regions if you wish. There are many cool gadgets out there for the taking. One bad thing about Craig’s List is that it doesn’t include a seller’s rating, so you have to be careful. One way to avoid being scammed this is to stick to buying locally, where you can have potential face-to-face interaction with the seller.
One more place where you can try to find cheap used laptops is Overstock.com. Although this site won’t yield as much of a selection as eBay, or Graig’s List, and perhaps even fewer than Amazon, it’s still a good place to look. You may find something in there you didn’t see in any of the other sites, so it won’t hurt to look.
You don’t have to limit your search to the Internet. You can also try doing a bit of off line research. Look in your local newspaper and see what turns up. Often times, some people will opt to sell their used computers by placing ads in the newspaper, so you may be pleasantly surprised by what you find. Try the Sunday paper since it usually has a larger classified section. It is as if finding a secret hidden camera in a pile of computer stuff. It is right in front of you but few people know about it.
There you have it—5 ways to look for cheap used laptops. By doing some thorough research, you’re sure to find a great deal. With all of the selections you’ll have at your disposal, you’ll be able to find a laptop that has the features you’re searching for, at a price range you’re comfortable with.

Is Dell Working On Android Netbook ?
Dell could be working on an Android netbook is what is heard from sources in the pc industry.
Bsquare, which makes software for smartphones and other mobile devices, which is used to run video and other multimedia in Web applications, onto Dell's Android netbooks.Well,there are no signs of when the mini-laptops would be launched.
Dell working on a netbook that would run the OS would not be a surprise, given that it already sells PCs running Linux, another open source OS, and other vendors, including rival Hewlett-Packard, are testing Android.
Dell shipping an Android netbook would give a significant boost to the OS and could encourage other computer makers to follow. The company is the world's second-largest PC maker behind HP.
Dell makes netbooks today running Windows XP or Linux under the Inspiron Mini brand. Netbooks have been the only growing segment of the PC market during the economic recession. The mini-laptops, introduced in 2007, have screens 10 inches or less, are optimized for Web surfing and other basic tasks, and cost as little as $300. Global shipments this year are expected to rise by 68.5% from 2008, according to iSuppli.
During the economic downturn, much of the growth of netbooks has come at the expense of contemporary PC categories, particularly desktops. ISuppli predicts shipments of PCs will drop by 9.5% this year, compared with 2008.
Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is a potentially cost-efficient model for provisioning processes, applications and services while making IT management easier and more responsive to the needs of the business. Therefore, it is spreading through the IT world like wildfire, and more-n-more established vendors trying to reach the customer attention.In general, cloud service providers fall into three categories:
• software-as-a-service providers;
• infrastructure-as-a-service vendors that offer Web-based access to storage and computing power;
• and platform-as-a-service vendors that give developers the tools to build and host Web applications.
Here are some companies that provide cloud services:
Amazon
Since 2006, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has provided companies of all sizes with an infrastructure web services platform in the cloud. With AWS consumers can requisition compute power, storage, and other services–gaining access to a suite of elastic IT infrastructure services as the business demands. The company provides more than six services including the Elastic Compute Cloud, for computing capacity, and the Simple Storage Service, for on-demand storage capacity.AWS delivers a number of benefits for IT organizations and developers alike, including:
• Cost-effective: Pay only for what you use.
• Dependable: AWS cloud is distributed, secure and resilient, giving its consumers reliability and massive scale.
• Flexible: consumer can build any application he wants using any platform or any programming model.
• Comprehensive: AWS gives you a number of services you can incorporate into your applications.
Google

The services are used by small businesses, enterprises and colleges including Arizona State University and Northwestern University.
Microsoft
In 2008, the software giant had announced Windows Azure, codenamed “Red Dog”, which is a cloud services operating system that serves as the development, service hosting and service management environment for the Azure Services Platform.It is currently in Community Technology Preview. Commercial availability for Windows Azure will likely be at the end of calendar year 2009.Windows Azure is an open platform that will support both Microsoft and non-Microsoft languages and environments. Developers can use their existing Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 expertise to build applications and services on Windows Azure. It supports popular standards and protocols including SOAP, REST, XML, and PHP. Windows Azure also welcomes third party tools and languages such as Eclipse, Ruby, PHP, and Python.At present, software companies like Epicor, S3Edge and Micro Focus are among the early customers using Azure to develop cloud apps.
Salesforce.com
Salesforce.com provides a set of CRM tools for salesforce automation, analytics, marketing and social networking tools. Besides CRM tools, it also offers Force.com, which is the fastest and easiest platform to build, buy, and run your business applications.Delivering the power and flexibility of cloud computing to the enterprise, Force.com Cloud Computing Architecture includes pay-per-login utility pricing model for the Force.com Platform, and Force.com Development-as-a-Service, a new set of tools and services that will enable enterprise developers to easily harness the promise of cloud computing for application development.At present, about fifty-five thousand customers among various industries, which include financial services, communications and media, energy, healthcare and retail using the services.

The world's biggest chipmaker, said the slump in the technology industry "has touched bottom.".

Intel Corp., the world's biggest chipmaker, said the slump in the technology industry "has touched bottom.""We see opportunity of seasonal growth in the second half," said Christian Morales, head of Intel's Europe, Middle East and Africa business, in an interview in St. Petersburg, Russia, Friday.Intel supplies processors for about 80% of the world's personal computers. That makes its orders a gauge of the overall industry's health. Information-technology spending is expected to drop 9% this year, according to a report by Goldman Sachs & Co."We saw a major correction of inventory levels around the world in the first quarter," Mr. Morales said. "At the end of the quarter inventories were in line with the business environment."Russia's information, communications and technology industry has had a "major downsizing" in the first quarter, the executive said. "There is an opportunity for a recovery in Russia this year, with the desire of Russian people to access Internet and to acquire best available technology."Russia could become Europe's largest information technology market in the next three to four years, helped by the government's investment in technological infrastructure and educational programs, according to Mr. Morales.The country makes up "a small part" of Intel's total sales, although it's "very strategic" for the company because of its "major contribution in software development," he said. Intel has more than 1,000 engineers in Russia, he added."The downsizing of the market is always challenging," Mr. Morales said. "The Russian government is putting out stimulus packages and we hope that part of it will be dedicated to information technologies, which is positive."
